Clinton State Park, Lawrence, Kansas

 4/24/2023 to 4/28/2023

The highlight (and primary purpose) for choosing this state park was the chance to visit with Paige and Mathew, who live nearby. We got to see their beautiful home, share wonderful meals, and catch up on each others lives.

We stayed in the Prairie Clover Campground at Clinton State Park. We assume that what we see from our RV campsite is prairie clover. It's not water or forest for sure.

Paige brought lots of family memorabilia with her when she came to spend the day with us at the park. She and Scott had fun reviewing the very old family Bible, pictures from a family trip to the 1939 New York World's Fair, and much more. We also got a chance to talk with Sue Ellen and wish her happy birthday.

The park has lots of hiking trails that are well marked. Many go along the lake. We could access the blue and white and red trails from our campground. We started at the same point every day and took a different trail/direction.

Paige has not gotten shorter is - she's just stooping down.

There is a huge lake and marina, but it was a little too cold for us to try to get the paddleboards to an access point. We're loving having the yakup rack in place for paddleboards, but if we aren't right on the water Scott has to load them on top of the CRV, which is time consuming. Of course the other option of driving the RV to an access point isn't really an option.

One question that one of Paige's friends asked is "How do we get our prescription medication?" As it turns out we had our first experience with that this past week. Scott had a virtual visit with our family practice physician, who ordered his medication refilled at our old HEB. We got the prescription # from HEB and took it to a Walmart Pharmacy in Lawrence, Kansas. They got the prescription from HEB and filled it. Easy peesy. It was a little creepy that all they needed (in addition to name, age) to access all his insurance information was the last 4 digits of his social security number.
