Sequoyah State Park, Oklahoma

 4/8/2023 to  4/12/2023

    Sequoyah State Park is another large one. Three RV camping sites, nature center, lodges, restaurants, golf course, many trails and paved walking/running paths. Our site is in the Choctaw Campground. It's relatively new, with full hookups for all 20 sites.

    Maudie agreed to do the blog for this site:

    First RV camping site I've been to so I don't have much to compare with. But to my inexperienced eyes this place WAS AMAZING!!!!!!
    The weather was perfect so the entire party (including Annie) did a good deal of hiking. The park has an abundance of trails. The most interesting trail by far was the Fossil trail. Some group of boy scouts made it when they were looking for eagles and their nests in 2009. It's called the Fossil trail because along the trail are rocks with fish fossils imbedded in them.

FOSSIL -->

      The trail involves some pretty intense hiking. At points rock scrambling might be a better description. Major applause to Grandma for walking the entire thing!!! I've never seen anything like it. To give you an idea I'll show you a picture of what the supposed trail is.

    That--I kid you not--is what the majority of the trail was like. So all you people who think past thirty qualifies as old think again! I was (and still am) amazed.
    We also took a trip to another one of the RV campgrounds closer to the water about 3 miles away. I ran and Grandma and Grandpa biked on their electric bikes. (Annie sat this one out.)There and back was about 6 miles. That was after I got there on the first day of my stay.
    The next day we paddle boarded for most of the morning. the weather was lovely and there wasn't much wind. We paddled past a lot of the trails that we'd hiked on the day before including the Fossil trail.

    After we hiked about the length of the park and saw webworms.
 Here's a link for those as curious as we were.

    I also was able to take Annie on a run afterward. I've got to say Annie is turning me into a dog lover. I've definitely never found anyone else as enthusiastic as she is when it comes to sprinting up hills. She loves to go fast. By far the cheerfullest running buddy I've ever had and has barked only three times my whole stay.

    This morning I got to learn about packing up the site and prepping the RV for the road. It is a process. But everything is super organized so it all went smoothly.

    Right now we're on the road to our next site in Keystone State Park.
