Tahquamenon State Park, Paradise, Michigan
7/18/2023 to 7/25/2023
Tahquamenon State Park did not disappoint. The waterfalls and river were beautiful. The approximately 50,000 acres provided lots of great trails. And the cool weather made everything enjoyable.

We scoped out a kayak trip for Scott. He put in just below the lower falls and expected to reach our rendezvous spot near the bay in 2-3 hours. I got to the spot at the 2 1/2 hour mark. It took him six hours to get there. It obviously was longer than we thought, but part of the problem was that the water was dead calm and he had to paddle hard to make progress. Advil was his friend for a while after that trip.

This is our last stop in the Upper Peninsula. We were disappointed that we didn't see any exciting wildlife. Signs everywhere to watch out for moose, but we didn't see any. No bears. Not even many birds. Just a few deer.
Other points to remind us of this park:
- We had a large pullthrough site with 50 amp electricity; near the water spigot; near the bathroom. But we were closely surrounded by other campers. Nothing but close views of other people to look out while outside.
- We learned a new rule for Michigan State Parks: can only use propane fires in the large firepits provided. We ended up not having many fires because our pit was just a couple of feet away fron other people.
- I finished the quilt for Ryan while we were here. This is a picture of it in his room.
