Lake Mississinewa, Peru, Indiana

 8/31/2023 - 9/7/2023

After a summer with all campsites full all week, we're back to the school schedule with full weekends and holidays and deserted weekdays.  I wish I had taken a picture of the cramped campground to contrast, but here is a picture of our site after everyone left Monday afternoon.

The Mississinewa Lake is definitely the prime attraction for campers here. Scott paddleboarded after the crowd thinned out. This is a picture of the launchsite.

We enjoyed hikes every afternoon as usual. Our favorite was the Lost Sister Trail in neighboring Frances Slocum State Recreation Area.

I did a lot of quilting this week, after giving up on standing up to quilt the short king for the RV. It was much easier (actually it was possible instead of impossible) to quilt sitting down, where I could raise the pressor foot above thick seams with my knee and support the weight of the quilt with the dinette and extra portable table.

The town of Peru, population 11,000, had lots of good restaurants (although we only ate at the Taco Bell). The Kroger grocery story was well stocked and even had Pico de Gallo and hot bean dip, which we haven't found since leaving Texas. Peru also had a riverwalk.

We are having more electrical issues. Came to light when the truck battery indicator was low and the RV wouldn't start. Rick the RoVing Tech diagnosed (long distance) a relay switch related to the inverter as the problem. Scott has figured out workarounds to keep us mobile until we can figure out how to get the problem fixed.
